Foundation Stage – Literacy Week
Foundation stage students participated in activities to showcase their talent and also experienced the magical feeling of getting their talent acknowledged through their classmates. Students were encouraged to recall words they see frequently, such as their own and friend’s names. The teachers modeled oral blending of sounds to make words and play games to develop students knowledge. The students were provided with simple texts and were encouraged to use all their skills including their phonic knowledge to capture their interest, sustain motivation and reinforce learning. The students were able to use talk to organize a story sequence map. They were able to introduce a story line into their show and tell and describe the characters of the story, what happened first, next and at the end. Great effort!
